Aphrodite Desiree Navab exhibits photographs that illustrate an autobiographical narrative of her personal quest through her American and Iranian heritage. Featuring 14 large C-prints rich with the color of her cobalt blue chador (Farsi for Islamic covering) and the cadmium red of her Superman T-shirt, Navab explores themes of coexistence and metamorphosis with a unique mixture of gravitas and humor. The collection serves to highlight the many roles each of us plays within the sphere of our daily lives, as the viewer experiences Navab as artist, director, actor, image, and most importantly as a political activist seeking to create an opening dialogue.
