Kent Gallery is pleased to present Close Looking, an exhibition which explores the nature of appearances through prolonged scrutiny and dissection. The exhibition will feature a dense suite of works by six gallery artists, all working in a variety of media. Through their various processes, each artist takes a closer look at their environment and reveal intricacies, which we often take for granted or simply ignore. The resulting works give birth to new ways of seeing and thinking and asserts the artists role as the archetypal interpreter.

This exhibition will mark Emily Prince’s first showing in New York, following the installation of her highly successful project American Servicemen and Women Who Have Died in Iraq and Afghanistan (but Not Including the Wounded, nor the Iraqis nor the Afghans) currently on view at the 52nd International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. Elizabeth King will be the subject of a major mid-career survey organized by the new Visual Arts Center of Richmond, Virginia. The exhibition will open December 7, 2007 and will continue through early 2009. Accompanying the exhibition will be a fully illustrated catalogue with essays by Nancy Princenthal and Ashley Kisler.
