myartspace.com will be hosting a group show for the winners of the “New York, New York 2007” competition at the McCormack Gallery in Chelsea. A catalog will accompany the exhibition, which will also include work from the top 50 finalists in the NY, NY 07 competition.
Works from three winners from the myartspace “New York, New York 2007” competition will be on display—Vincent Como, Minkyung Lee and Masha Ryskin. Also showing will be video work by myartspace finalist Chadwick Gibson.
Winners of the myartspace “New York, New York 2007” competition were chosen by a three-person jury that consisted of Jessica Morgan, curator of contemporary art at the Tate Modern, James Rondeau, curator of contemporary art at the Art Institute of Chicago and Steven Zevitas, Publish and Editor of New American Paintings.
About the “New York, New York 2007” artists
Vincent Como was born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. He has spent most of the past decade in Chicago, and is currently living in Brooklyn, NY. His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibits across the United States, the most recent solo show having taken place earlier this year at Western Exhibitions in Chicago, IL.
Korean artist Minkyung Lee received her MFA in Printmedia from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. She has exhibited steadily in Korea and the United States, and is looking forward to upcoming solo shows at Mooshin Museum and the Photography Center BODA in Seoul, Korea. She has also previously been granted a Summer Residency at the School of Visual Art in New York City.
Masha Ryskin is a Russian-born painter, printmaker and installation artist. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has participated in a number of residency programs in the United States, Indonesia, Finland, Costa Rica, Norway and Spain, and her work has been featured in numerous publications, most recently the New York Times.
