Jeanne Thomsen’s abstracts evoke an architectonic structure through successive layering of color. Although also suggesting through the physicality of paint a static structure, Thomsen exhibits through quick brushstrokes a sense of suspended movement in her paintings. Thomsen finds an exploration of infinite combinations in the properties of color in her canvas.

Thomsen received an MFA from Pratt Institute in painting in 2003 and a BFA in painting from Metropolitan State College in Denver. She was awarded a fellowship at Vermont Studio School in 2003 and has appeared in numerous group exhibitions in Denver and Brooklyn including Sideshow Gallery in Williamsburg.
