This exhibition, on view at the Deitch Projects from December 22-29, 2007 features a group of 20 young emerging artists exhibiting together for the first time.
Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation is pleased to present its inaugural exhibition at Deitch Projects. Up Next engages young emerging artists in a visual discussion about nature, perspective, time and identity through painting, photography and mixed media. For one week only, Hadar scholars will be united to showcase their artistic abilities and creative innovation.
The artwork in Up Next ranges from traditional calligraphic works by Ken Lau, to contemporary nature photography by Stanislav Ginzburg and mixed media window perspectives by Yevgenia Davidoff. The artists utilize different media and contemplate individual experiences from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation is a New York based organization that provides college scholarships, mentoring and support programs for students with financial need who demonstrate exceptional talent and commitment to the visual, written and performing arts. Since its inception in 1993, the foundation has awarded nearly 200 scholarships.
Up Next was co-curated by a team of Hadar Foundation mentors including video artist Bill Beirne, curator Erin Donnelly, educator Beth Rosenberg and photographer Howard Wallach. Two current Hadar scholars worked on the curatorial team: New York University graduate Virginia Fioribello and Brandeis University junior Amanda DiSanto.
This exhibition is made possible by the generous donation of the gallery space by Jeffrey Deitch.
