Are we doomed to experience Eros when what we’re really seeking is Agape? Or are we just good storytellers? Canvas Paper and Stone Gallery initiates our 2008 exhibition year with Eros & Agape.
This group show explores and deciphers Eros, the Greek god of love and sexual desire, juxtaposed with Agape, unconditional or spiritual love, in paintings and photography. The Featured artists are RoseAnn Albanese who states “There is so much beauty in each curve and expression that I feel fortunate to be able to set my brush to canvas and become part of that beauty.”; Katherine Criss uses the trans-layered photographic image to convey her feelings of beauty and freedom about the physical body; Richard Mitchell, whose goal is creating exhilarating images, while having a good time; Vivian Keith Morris, who combines his graphic design expertise with a unique sense of color and light to create evocative art forms depicting love and the human spirit; Darryl Sisco; Diane Hardy Waller, who imagines capturing the sensuousness in people who comfortably and uninhibitedly inhabit their bodies; making them naturally sexual and spiritual simultaneously; and E. Lee White. Join us in bridging the gap between Eros and agape.
