ChinaSquare is proud to present QI YUN, The International Traveling Exhibition of Chinese Abstract Art, curated by Huang Zhuan, featuring Li Huasheng, Lin Yan, Liu Zijian, Qiu Shihua, Shen Chen, Wang Chuan, Chihung Yang and Zhou Li.

All eight artists, working within Asian and Western cultures, have persevered in the pursuit of artistic freedoms. Deconstructing and recreating what is contained in non-reality, their works stands out as significantly avant-garde. From limited tonalities and barely perceptible stripes, to experimental ink painting and calligraphy on Xuan paper, to symbolic language and pure abstraction, from one work to the next, an introspective examination of the subjective world is created. Monochromatic surfaces become landscapes, transporting the viewer into a solitary, contemplative state. Fusing east and west, these abstract pieces stand out in their expressions of liberty.

Qi Yun opened last year at the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen and has since traveled to Beijing, Hong Kong, and now New York in order to promote and advance contemporary Chinese abstract art.

Huang Zhuan is a renowned art critic and the Director of the He Xiangning Musuem.
