Kentler International Drawing Space is delighted to present Gosia Wlodarczak’s first New York solo exhibition of drawings, entitled SHARED SPACE NEW YORK. Wlodarczak is a Polish born artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Her exhibition is part of a process of series of artistic work started in Australia and continuing in New York.
The first several stages took place in Australia, at the artist’s studio and at the Boutwell Gallery where she drew participants on works already prepared in her studio. In this exhibition, she will continue to invite visitors to participate in drawing sessions on multi-panel works, as models but as parts of the works themselves before the installation of the exhibition and during the opening reception at the Kentler gallery.
Wlodarczak has stated that Shared Space investigates the social environment in which we live and engage with the recently growing awareness, anxieties and fears concerning safe/unsafe human relationships. As Zagala writes in her essay ,”The Shared Space project involves a degree of exposure on both the part of the artist and of the participant…The complexity of human exchanges are not only explored but performed”.
