In a celebration of Asian Contemporary Art Week, Ethan Cohen Fine Arts will exhibit POWER OF THE BRUSH: Leading Painters from Asia. This show will survey the most impressive painters today from Asia, both established and emerging, representing China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and Pakistan.

Over the years, Ethan Cohen Fine Arts has had the opportunity to work with individual painters whose works successfully capture their personal experiences and cultural identity with intelligence and power. Working with these unique and talented painters is made even more satisfying because they, each in their own way, show a well cultivated sense of personal aesthetics and display a deep understanding of the medium of Paint and Brush. This combination can be all too rare in today’s contemporary art scene. We are very proud to be able to showcase work from these artists in our gallery for Asian Contemporary Art Week.

The represented artists will include: Han Xin, Hu Renyi, Tang Hui, Xie Caomin, Hung Nguyen Manh, Naoto Nakagawa, Ushio and Noriko Shinohara, TOKYOKO, Ryoga Katsuma, Ali Kazim, and Vassan Sitthiket

During the opening we will also be screening Robert Adanto’s new documentary film “The Rising Tide” (www.therisingtidefilm.com). This film looks into cultural and economic changes in China through the work of some of its most talented talented photographers and video artists. This documentary also features commentary and interviews by Gordon Chang and Ethan Cohen.
