Michael Bilsborough Dan Estabrook Carrie Levy

Daniel Cooney Fine Art is proud to announce The View From Here, an exhibition of artistic studies including sketches, drawings and Polaroid’s by Michael Bilsborough, Dan Estabrook and Carrie Levy. The show emphasizes the process of art making and the explorations that evolve into what is known as the artist’s “work”. While the photographs and works on paper in the show are recognizable as the style of each artist, they remain distinct from previously exhibited work.

Michael Bilsborough contributes a suite of sketches that reveal the process of making his large-scale ink drawings and murals. Numerous perspective lines, erased figures and faintly visible deviant activities all blur Michael’s decadent party scenes. The fine pencil markings on delicate sketch paper produce a vulnerable and beautiful artwork.

Dan Estabrook’s contribution to the show includes drawings and Polaroid’s that are distinctly his own but do not include his signature 19th century photographic processes. Viewer’s familiar with Estabrook’s work will recognize elements of his previously seen images such as the original drawing that is incorporated into his photograph titled White Flag.

Carrie Levy, best known for her unsettling large format color nudes that address identity without revealing facial features is exhibiting intimate black and white figure studies. The photographs share a previously unseen side of Levy’s art that is still quietly disturbing and beautiful.

Michael Bilsborough has exhibited his drawings in numerous galleries including Derek Eller Gallery, Paul Kasmin Gallery and John Connelly Presents. He was awarded the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Grant in 2006

Dan Estabrook has exhibited his photographs in many galleries and museums internationally including solo shows at Jackson Fine Art, Catherine Edelman Gallery, Sarah Morthland Gallery and Daniel Cooney Fine Art. Anthropy Arts recently released a documentary film on Estabrook.

Carrie Levy will be exhibiting her photographs at the Festival of Photography in Lodz, Poland next month and will be featured in the upcoming Dear Dave, magazine. Levy has had two solo exhibitions at Daniel Cooney Fine Art.
