Edwina White’s debut solo exhibition in New York City incorporates drawing, text, found objects, sound, and animation with a process of experimentation reminiscent of early collage artists. In Across + Down, White engages the interplay between text and image, specifically the relationship between 57 crossword clues - taken from the January 1, 2005 edition of the New York Times - and the making of their visual analogs.
Born in Sydney, Australia, Brooklyn-based artist/ illustrator Edwina White studied Visual Communications at UTS and at Brighton University, UK. She has contributed illustrations to international publications including: Flaunt, Esquire UK, Vogue Australia and Japan, Harper’s Bazaar, Creative Review UK, Print Magazine and The New York Times. White has previously exhibited in the UK, Japan, throughout North America, and Australia, and is represented in private collections in Australia, Europe, and the USA.
