The Goethe-Institut New York and Kunstverein München present STARSHIP – various sketches for leaving the room, the latest exhibition at Ludlow 38, a new downtown satellite space for innovative contemporary art.
Under the title various sketches for leaving the room, STARSHIP 11 negotiates several demarcation lines and passage ways of real and fictional journeys through national geographies, public places, and private spaces. The latest issue is the result of a close collaboration with the artist Henrik Olesen.
The magazine launch will be contextualized by a collaborative installation: a suite of possible entrances and exits, reflecting the territorial dialectics of marking off and crossing through, being invited and inviting, being producers and artists as well as being inside or preferably outside.
The exhibition also includes a visual research project on excess and sustainability initiated by STARSHIP: Seinesgleichen geschieht – The Like of It Now Happens, which includes 19 posters and a plastic bag by Simone Gilges, Judith Hopf, Daniel Pflumm, Bless, Nils Norman, Stefan Dillemuth, Christoph Schaefer, Nina Rhode, Sebastian Lütgert, Henrik Olesen, 4000, Michaela Eichwald, Diplomacy in Reflex, Gunter Reski, Klaus Weber, Deborah Schamoni, Florian Zeyfang, Ariane Müller, Martin Ebner, and Hans-Christian Dany
