With a multidisciplinary practice spanning video, performance, watercolor, text and voiceovers, Julie Lequin presents an audio collage entitled Car Talk. Knitting together excerpts from the NPR show of the same name and her own fabricated responses, Car Talk presents a fictional conversation between the artist and the two radio icons discussing her linguistic troubles, her Qubcoise identity, and life as a contemporary visual artist. Interweaving personal history with fictionalized circumstances, Lequins Car Talk deftly mixes humor with personal struggles while blurring the line between the artist as individual and the artist as a self-consciously constructed persona.
