Highlighting the innovative use of digital technology from capture to imaging, this thesis exhibition features large-format digital prints by students in the inaugural class of the MPS “Seamless” Digital Photography Department. From Christina Tisi-Kramer’s elegantly refined images in Jewelry and Nature to the provocative images in Sean Basil McGiver’s series Drugs, Sex & Drag Queens, the exhibition presents a wide range of viewpoints and aesthetics. Curated by faculty member Dan Halm.

“New Releases” An exhibition showcasing artists who participated in the BFA Photography Department’s 2008 PhotoGlobal program, a one-year residency for emerging photographers from around the world. The artists are Martin Adolfsson (Stockholm), Somayeh Bardai (Dubai), Antonio Ibarra (Mexico City) and May Heek (Amsterdam). Curated by faculty member Marc Joseph Berg.

“Rooted” This exhibition features the work of Lisa Elmaleh (BFA 2007 Photography), the 2007 recipient of the Tierney Grant in Photography, from her travels across the United States. The Tierney Grant in Photography is given to a promising BFA Photography candidate at SVA to encourage a new body of photographic work within a year of graduation. Curated by faculty member Gerard Vezzuso.

“Parma, Young Photographers: Identity/Identities” In a new collaboration between the BFA Photography Department and the city of Parma, Italy, young Italian photographers explore the intersections between individual and collective identity as experienced through place and culture. This exhibition represents the first of a two-part exhibition; the second will be held at the San Ludovico palace in Parma and will feature works from SVA photographers on the same theme; curated by Dr. Paolo Barbaro of the University of Parma.
