BANANAS is a new exhibition from New York-based artist Sara Greenberger Rafferty. This Kitchen-commissioned installation draws on diverse themes and found imagery relating to food and eating, stand-up comedy, and psychiatric convalescence to explore the existential absurdities of life.

Suggesting possible and often bitterly humorous scenarios for an absent actor, the discrete works in the exhibition come together to form a larger conceptual vocabulary that focuses on the role of the individual subject such as the comic, the artist, the psychoanalytic patient‹as a way to open up larger questions about the tension between futility and agency, between the imaginary and the everyday.
