Emerging Artist’s First Group Show in New York City

New York, NY –OUTLINE, a group exhibition of drawings from emerging artists Cassandra Baker, Tony Ingrisano and Laura Murdoch will be on view at Serrano Contemporary at 547 West 27th Street in Chelsea from January 15 through February 14, 2009. Curated by Christopher Smith, OUTLINE presents the New York debut of three dynamic emerging artists.

The exhibition OUTLINE will include individual drawings of Graphite on Paper, Transfer, Collage and Pen on Paper. “As we enter a new year and approach a new decade, the sense of drawing, being the premise to creation, can communicate varied colors and tones, as well as can ask a entirely new set of questions concerning the intimacy of art,” says Smith. “Considering the current economic realities, people may look toward a more classical sense of substance…an attraction to something more tangible. Paper has a traditional sense, but the surface itself can be re-invented to invite a deeper relationship to the viewer, knowing that there is nothing more intimate between an artist’s hand and the surface they work on.”

“The three artists are reinventing the notion of drawing,“ says Ramses Serrano, Gallery Director. “Tony’s work has an urban feel which goes beyond the surface and Cassandra displays a similar quality. While Laura’s work is the glue that connects everything together, by bringing the Baroque fold that is seen in Cassandra’s work into the obsessively drawn boxes that are alive in Tony’s. Within each artists work, every placement of line is a personal commitment. This is an exciting show.”
