The gallery is pleased to present the New York solo debut of Paul Doran. The artist, previously known for his colorful, impasto technique, works now with a more concentrated color palette, continuing to experiment with texture and spatial relationships. Paul Doran makes gritty little paintings, which are often difficult and demanding, edging towards something inexpressible, but with strength and meaning that is unambiguous. The clue to the particular meaning of each painting lies in the handmade nature of the elements that make a compelling image.
Paul Doran (b. 1972, Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland) lives and works in Ireland. The artist received both a BA and MFA from the National College of Art and Design, Ireland. In 2005 he was awarded the AIB Art Prize given annually to emerging Irish artists and is represented by Green on Red in Dublin and SUNDAY in New York. This is the artist’s New York solo debut.
