Stellan Holm Gallery is pleased to present New Nature an exhibition of new works by painter Brendan Cass. Opening reception on Saturday, January 31 from 6 to 8pm.

New Nature is Brendan Cass’s first exhibition at Stellan Holm Gallery. The exhibition features a selection of optimistic new large-scale multi-colored landscape paintings. Copious layers of pigmentation explode into abstract swirls, blobs of paint, drips, and broad brushstrokes, revealing a lone house, a forest with gushing rivers, or sparkling hills that merge into small villages. Mirroring geological phenomenon with a kaleidoscopic turn, Cass transforms elements of the picturesque into energetic planes of raw color. He creates a cosmos infused with neon color pulsating with both the harmony and chaos of an ever-shifting ecology. Spanning the compositional formalism of the Hudson River School painters to a reverance for nature akin to Joseph Beuys’, Cass navigates a new nature uniquely his own.

Born in 1974, Brendan Cass attended School of Visual Arts, New York and the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College. He currently lives in New York.
