Y Gallery is pleased to present “from Argentina: Galería EL TIGRE CELESTE”, a group exhibition curated by El tigre Celeste’s director, Camen Ferreyra. This exhibition will be the first part of the Gallery Trade Program, dedicated to exchange spaces with art galleries and collectives from different cities around the world.

For this time, curator Ferreyra chooses 7 young artists, Argentines: Catalina Leon, Nicolas Mastracchio, Celeste Najt, Luciana Rondolini, Nicolas Sobrero, Tamara Villoslada, and Chilean artist Cristian Velasco. Focusing in the era of digital technology for creative processes and based on overexposed relations established on the Internet –facebook, myspace, fotolog-, and street culture –billboards, graffiti–, Ferreyra explains “I chose them because they represent the new wave of local artists in Buenos Aires and Santiago. Through their visual expressions, they symbolize the way we communicate and interact. They all share similar concepts that link them at their personal level, coming closer to the viewer, because they speak our everyday language”.

These artists have exhibited in different cities in Latin America, Europe and the U.S. Currently, their works can be found in several collections, including MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires), Luciano Benetton and Windsor and Newton collections.

Founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in December 2006, El tigre Celeste looks for creating a new space for the South American art scene, breaking the current market structures, sometimes inaccessible to the emerging artist living in developing countries. The project has expanded its boundaries with a portfolio of contemporary artists, mainly from Argentina and Chile, and offices in Buenos Aires and Williamsburg, New York.
