Flower Power is a curatorial grouping of eleven artists on the subject of flowers. The flower, traditionally the subject of “conservative” still life paintings, is presented in an alternative context-the context of the flower on the gravestone, the flower in the gun barrel, the flower of the Warhol silkscreen, the flower of the 70s’ “Flower Power.” Peace, love, and the raised fist of revolution. The flower is taken up as an evolutionary link, to the past and future of art, in paintings by Benjamin Cottam, Ann Craven, Bart Domburg, Joyce Kim, Elizabeth Neel, Petra Singh, Laura Stein, Ena Swansea, and Jeannie Weissglass, and sculpture by Debora Warner and Will Ryman.
