East Village / Lower East Side
March 29 - March 29, 2009
Reception: Sunday, March 29, 4 - 9 PM

MWNM is pleased to announce its final series of events and single day exhibition, Nepotistically Yours, to take place Sunday, March 29, 2009. The exhibition features the talent of artists within the peer group of MWNM directors Alice Wells and Karen Archey. Artists include Erik Lindman, Bless Tive, Maximilian Schubert, Natalie Labriola, Alana Celii, Grant Willing, Justin Warsh, and Scott Kitely.

Nepotistically Yours begins at 4pm with a screening of recent work by artists Chelsea Knight and Tim Ridlen. The program, titled One+One, highlights each artists’ concerns with power and the moving image. Both Knight and Ridlen utilize the space of the video medium to loosely suggest narratives intersected by the reality presented for the camera.

One+One is followed by MIRROR SITE at 7pm, a screening of netart and evening of performances curated by Daniel Chew and Jon Rafman. MIRROR SITE considers the mutable reception of netart to audiences of various knowledge bases, and pairs this concern with issues of banality, remix culture, and memory in the digital age. Artists featured in the screening include Oliver Laric, Constant Dullaart, Micaela Durand, Guthrie Lonergan, John-Michael Boling, Chris Collins, and others.

A reception will follow MIRROR SITE at approximately 8:30pm to celebrate the closing of the gallery.
