Group Exhibition curated by Joe Fig Pyschogeography can be looked at as a range of playful and inventive strategies for exploring cities; an emphasis on diverting pedestrians off of the predictable path and jolting them into a new awareness of the urban landscape. The artists in Urbane Development act as flaneurs, urban explorers, and physchogeographers, combing the city for materials, creating new pathways through the built environment and altering the viewer’s perception of the city itself. Emphasizing the physical trace that the city imposes as well as the erasure that it creates, the work in Urbane Development presents alternative ways to look at urban phenomena and reflect on modernity.
