“Apologies for receiving our announcement again! Please note that the opening of our upcoming show is Thursday, April 30th : 7 to 9 pm.” Kind Regards – Venetia Kapernekas
Venetia Kapernekas Gallery is pleased to present Love Will Tear Us Apart, an exhibition of prints by 18 international artists and writers curated and produced by Queen & Shaw.
For this project, the participating artists were asked by the curator to donate their interpretation of a love letter from their private collection to be reproduced as a limited edition print. Whether it was a photograph, a personal correspondence, or a found text, each work gives us a small glimpse of intimate moments traditionally reserved for private communication. Each piece has been printed at 18×12 inches on a coated matte paper. Although many of the works themselves are simple and verge on being monochromatic the exhibition itself will be hung salon style both large facing walls of the gallery. The exhibition includes work by :
Aaron Carpenter & Andrea Nunes Abigail Portner Charles Manson Claire Greenshaw Douglas Gordon Dustin Ericksen Edwin Burdis Garrick Gott & Terence Koh Hamish Morrow Hisham Akira Bharoocha Jason Cawood Jeremy Shaw Kathy Grayson Mark Hatten Patrick Griffin Robert Daniel Pytlyk Stefan Zeisler Thalia Mavros
Queen & Shaw, LLC was founded in 2009 by Abigail Scholar as a curatorial collaborative that seeks to support artists who work in all media while also promoting and supporting charitable organizations in need. A portion of all proceeds go to the charities specified with each project that we undertake. The chosen organization for this exhibition is the Harm Reduction Coalition. The Harm Reduction Coalition (HRC) is a national advocacy organization that promotes the heath and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by drug use. For more information on this organization please visit the website www.harmreduction.org.
