Douglas Boatwright, David Brooks, Nathan Gwynne, Julia Weist, Audra Wolowiec For the collaborative project between Art in General, M.S. 131, and Adam Simon’s Fine Art Adoption Network, Educator Christine Hou led 20 curatorial studies workshops with a class of twelve Seventh and Eighth-grade Special Education students. The resulting exhibition, with works selected through an online open call to artists, examines the act of collecting in relationship to contemporary art practices. Departing from the idea that collecting functions as just a physical practice, Impermanent Collections features artists who explore how collections move beyond mere acquisition of objects and into a continuous process of building and making.
