This grouping was inspired by the hand-made quality present in each of the artists’ work. This artistic presence, so undisguised, allows for emotional vulnerability in the art. Ryman’s work, constructed from industrial waste, has a crude and casual quality that dissimulates from the care of his decisions. Pilliod’s small hand sewn “pillows” play on obsession, identity, emotion and drawing without pen or pencil. Yudzon’s lush, sensual painting technique is applied to capturing anonymous fleeting moments in old photographs—narratives waiting for a story.
