LMAKprojects is pleased to announce The Beginning of the End a solo exhibition by Jen Stark. This exhibit will be a combination of paper sculptures and drawings, which introduces new mediums such as mirrors and wood.
With The Beginning of the End Stark takes us down the rabbit hole and reveals a thorough study of color and metamorphosis of forms and volumes. The work is labor intensive and displays a controlled methodology, but once the amazement of craft abides, the viewer succumbs and loses him-self in the color and intensity of the sculptures’ obsessive nature. Though the creation is meticulous the outcome feels like an exploration into an undiscovered world, which in part is driven by her interest to find beauty in the odd. Stark’s investigation and stamina grant us an opportunity to view and experience the undiscovered through form, color and material: a new interpretation of the sacred object and its conjuring revelations. She offers a new take on the nature of illusion, divinity, and psychedelic given form through mystery and a sense of eternity.
The work exposes Stark’s struggle, exploration and growth as her mark becomes more complex and reaffirms her stance as an artist. Her career has grown significantly since our last exhibit. With this new body of work Stark reminds us of what is, what was, and what is to come.
