Praxis International Art is proud to present Lip/Stick, a group show curated by AC (Anonymous Curators). A yearly initiative to exhibit the work of women artists, this show welcomes the summer season. The opening reception will take place on Thursday June 11, 2009, from 6 to 8 pm at 25 East 73rd Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY.

Revolving around themes of seduction, love, and also corruption, Lip/Stick will feature works in different media including photography, video, installation, painting, collage, and performance. The artists participating are Azul Ceballos (b. Argentina, lives in New York), Ana Teresa Fernández (b. Mexico, lives in San Francisco, CA), Frances Gallardo (b. Puerto Rico, lives in New York), Núria Güell (b. Spain, lives in Girona), Maritza Molina (b.Cuba, lives in Miami), Ebony G. Patterson (b. Jamaica, lives in Lexington, KY), and Lina Puerta (b. Colombia, lives in New York). This year, there will be a guest artist: Gabriel Galeano (b. Honduras, lives in Tegucigalpa). Galeano will recreate Ciudad Desnuda (Naked City), an intervention in the gallery’s surroundings which consists of embellishing the Upper East Side. During the opening night, the performance Falling by Frances Gallardo will take place at the gallery. Through her action, the artist metaphorically ponders on notions of sincerity and detachment.

AC (Anonymous Curators) is a collective of international museum curators who out of institutional boredom and personal initiative have decided to reach out to non-museum spaces in search of new audiences, challenging themes, and more dynamic exhibition platforms. In commercial galleries, abandoned sites or out in the open, AC deals with controversial subjects from sex to politics to social and artistic predatory practices.
