Consumption – An Exhibit of Paintings and Cakes by Mike Lash (With some of his pals showing work in the back room)

Mike’s ‘Pals in the Back’ are: David X Levine (works on paper), Anna Kunz (painting), Bernard Williams (painting), Rachael Higgins (painting), Leonardo Nierman (painting), Terrence Karpowitz (sculpture), and Andrew Rigsby (light box)

Special appearance by The Stumblebum Brass Band The band will show up to say hello on Monday night (July 6th) and play one full set!

Consumption is a conceptual exhibition whereby the artist takes an ironic poke at the current state of affairs borne by the rabid consumerism of an unchecked society and the sobering effect it is having in the art world and the world at large.

A sheet-cake designed and based on a Mike Lash drawing will be made each day and served with a plastic fork. However to commemorate the opening event, a Special Limited Edition Christofle™ silver fork, signed and numbered, will be the keystone piece of Consumption and is being offered for sale NOW at the “friends and family” pre-opening price of $100. The forks will retail at $185 when the show opens July 6th.

Five Mike Lash paintings will also be sold ‘Silent Auction style’ with each 3×4 foot painting starting at the low price $40 or a decent bottle of Scotch (Lash is hoping for Scotch at the $40 -$50 dollar range!). The works can be viewed now at www.lyonswiergallery.com. All silent auction pieces will be up during the 5 day exhibit and closes on Friday, July 10 at 7:30pm.

Mike Lash has exhibited in numerous exhibitions around the world. His published books and limited edition T-shirts are available through Agnès B. His work is included in many public collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago, IL), Centre d’Art Contemporain (Geneva, Switzerland), The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection (New York, NY), and the National Museum of Art (Washington, D.C.), to name a few.
