Jack Shainman Gallery is pleased to present Works on View, a group exhibition with works by Vito Acconci, Lee Lozano, Sterling Ruby, Michael Snow, and William Wegman.

Works on View consists of a collection of works dating from the 1960s to the present that feature simple gestures and concrete actions by artists who use a range of mediums including photography, video, collage, drawing, poetry, and performance. Most embrace chance-allowing media or an exploration of a single technological development, such as slow-motion in video, to inform the content, narrative, duration, and outcome of the resulting artwork. Language, humor, gender, and an underlying tension are common elements that appear in the works, but above all is an insistence on immediacy.
