Since November 2008, Octavius Neveaux has been producing a body of work that uses the musical catalog of the band Blues Control as his sole source of inspiration. Drawings of African tribes people, a man blowing a pink bubble, and a suited man with a snake wrapped around his neck are created with india ink, graphite, and enamel wall paint on paper.

During that time, he has also completed the cover art for the band’s newly released full length LP “Local Flavor.” The purpose of the exhibition is to create an environment where the music and art are in constant dialogue with one another—a cyclical exchange between artists working in completely different mediums.

Blues Control is an instrumental duo (Russ Waterhouse and Lea Cho) from Queens that play intoxicatingly space-y and psych-y retro noise that swirls and squawks towards electronic rock enlightenment. The band relies on a smattering of dark (very dark) keyboard/piano melodies that are filled in with feedback-heavy guitar fuzz and other eclectic machine-made sounds.
