Like the Spice is pleased to present Fade, featuring the new work of artist Eric LoPresti alongside a special lower level group show curated by Michael Wilson.
Artist Eric LoPresti received his BA in Cognitive Science from the University of Rochester in 1993, and his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2002. His work has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows at Jan Larson Fine Art, Miami University, and recently at the New York Public Library. He is the recipient of the Louis J. Kuriansky Foundation Award and the 2005 Miami Young Painters – William and Dorothy Yeck Purchase Award. He was curator for The Variegated Landscape in October 2007, and his first solo show at Like the Spice Gallery, Force Against Force, was exhibited in spring of 2008.
Artist, curator, and independent critic Michael Wilson has been described by Jerry Saltz as “someone who looks at art, grapples with it, puts himself at risk by writing directly about it (rather than just hiding behind academic ’tude and jargon).” Based in Brooklyn, Michael has written on contemporary art for Artforum, Frieze, Art Monthly, Untitled, Modern Painters, The Wire, and Blueprint, and contributed to exhibition catalogues published by, among others, The Photographers Gallery, Lisson Gallery, Matthew Marks Gallery, Art In General, The MIT List Visual Arts Center and The Venice Biennale. He also maintains a website at michaeljwilson.com which makes for excellent reading. Like the Spice is very pleased to welcome Michael to our downstairs space.
