NYU Steinhardt’s Rosenberg Gallery announces Big Head a solo exhibition of new work by David J. Merritt, MFA Candidate, 2011.
Monuments to a fallen civilization that did not exist. Totems transported from a future that may yet come to pass. The toil of the devout appeasing gods that will never respond. Big Head, is an installation of monolithic heads and objects created from a variety of materials such as; fired and unfired clay, plasticine, plaster, tape, foam and assemblage elements.
David J. Merritt is an artist living in Brooklyn, New York via Chicago and Honolulu. Currently he is seeking his MFA in Studio Art at NYU Steinhardt School, where he also teaches and is co-curator of the Visiting Artists/Critics lecture series for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011.
