New York University’s Bronfman Center Gallery is delighted to present Becoming: Visions of Childhood.

Becoming: Visions of Childhood weaves together an international selection of emerging and established artists. Painting, photography, illustration, sculpture and mixed media representing a rich array of cultures, experiences and sensibilities are featured.

Adela Leibowitz’s haunting narrative paintings suggest childhood’s perils. Anne Sassoon’s poignant images question the roles imposed upon children. Kam Mak’s award-winning illustrations capture his childhood in New York City’s Chinatown. Maria Dominguez’s expressionistic painting portends the dangers of growing up in the inner city, while Anique Taylor’s lyrical work challenges the expectations imposed on girls coming of age in suburban Connecticut.

With its array of themes and artistic expressions, Becoming: Visions of Childhood evokes and provokes.

Other featured artists include: Barbara Bailey, Lloyd Bloom, C215, Cern, Leora Cheshin, Chris Cortes, Meydad Eliyahu, Excusado, Eric Ginsburg, Alec Jacobson, Lisa Lebofsky, Carol Markel, Kenji Nakayama, Aaron Lazansky-Oliva, Carol Radsprecher, Nelson Rivas, Julio Rölle, Bonnie Rothchild, Amitai Sandy, Jill Schifter, Shulie Seidler-Feller, Preet Srivastava, Melanie Vote, Marcy Wasserman, Matthew Wheeler, Zero Cents and Antonio Zito.
